Nice Southern France 2012 Christmas

Christmas in Nice

A bit of history about Nice

Nice has a long history and some of its beginnings still can be seen today.

The first humans settled in Nice some 400 000 years BC. BC, the place was called Terra Amata. Ligurians settled on the coast from 900 to 600 BC. AD They built the first oppidums. From the eighth century BC, the Celts gradually integrated local populations, giving rise to the Celto-Ligurian.

In the sixth century BC. BC, the Phoenicians landed in the cove of Lacydon and founded the colony of Massalia (Marseille) they import crops olives, figs, grapes, etc.., thus rapidly expanding trade along the Mediterranean coast, creating counters as Olbia (Hyères), Antipolis (Antibes), and Nikaia (Nice), which means “victorious.” The Greek colony Nikaia not grow more than that.

It is this city where we spent year after year, and we find it simply appealing. We have many spots where we ‘d go,be it the center of Nice, Massena, or Vieux Nice, the old City.

There are numerous place to visit and one can write endlessly about the many beautiful places Nice has to offer. Some ‘ Nicoise ‘  – local person, told me many years ago, on one of my first visits : ‘ Nice is nice’. Nothing could be more true.

Now, in 2012 we intend to spend Christmas here. In this context I created the #google event : #nowuntilxmas . If you want to join us for Nice insight tours you are welcome.

To register simply go to : #nowuntilxmas on #google pages.
