The Chateaux loomed large, lit only faintly, eerily. The barking dogs, the shadow in white, and the creaking wooden stairs all contributed to an unforgettable experience.

Our host, Madame de Bourgoise, appeared as if straight from a gothic novel. The wolves mounted beside the staircase and candlelight gave the 17th century hunting lodge an eerie tone.

Eventually, peace arrived with moonlight reflecting on the lake and the soft sound of cowbells in the distance. The fear faded into a serene night.
