Africasiaeuro – industries – renewable energy – art 

I came across the trucks whilst on a trip to China years back. We were on a lake in Eastern China ( see pic below ).

I recall the tranquil scenery ( reminding me of southern France ), pristine forests and peaks. Amid all this we swam on the lake ( dropped the tiny succulent honey melons we bought earlier into the lake to cool it ) – all in all a wonderful experience.

Moving a bamboo raft with one steering oar is no joke – I found out early. After some practice though – the raft should move elegantly straight – I found out the technique taught by the oarswoman on the picture above.

What I must add is this experience was one of the best ever in China. I continued to visit the lake throughout the summer.

We picked fresh chestnuts from the trees on the surrounding island ( excellent ).

Late at night we would have dinner in one of the nearby village restaurants, home cooked food for 3 Bucks ( including beer ) . Tiny dumplings, freshly prepared, country style steamed rise, green tiny sauteed vegetable ( xiao bai cai), bamboo shoots, chicken.

On an evening we moved to a restaurant near the village – further up the mountain. There we got a ride from a local villager in a truck ( you see below ).

Amazingly, I was stunned by its sturdiness – a true workhorse – running on 2 cylinders, carrying 7 tons of material. I had seen trucks before – even drove them in the army – but nothing like this.

I am still as excited as I used to be. These trucks run for 40 years with no significant  signs of exhaustion – simple design – and are very suitable for African and other developing countries. As a result I decided to get the agency of the truck manufacturer (who also – by the way – manufactures beach buggies – and agricultural machines )

Tibet wild rhubarb tea

I came across this during one of my many travels to Tibet.

Upon returning from Qinghai plateau, after a horrendous 2D2N ( two days two nights) drive we reached Xining at 5 A.M. in the morning. There were many of us who continued to Beijing, some to Shanghai, yet others stayed on in Xining for a couple of days.

We were paralyzed by the freezing cold that engulfs the Qinghai plateau during the Winter months. Upon finding a Hotel I settled down with a hot shower to start with, and this was a relieve one can not imagine.

Strolling down the main square market I saw the sign that showed above image. Magic Herb Medicine Institute. A Telephone number was given and I proceded to call the number  the same morning.

Afternoon came the first meeting with the head of the company which turned out to be a scientist working on Tibetan herbal medicines for a lifetime. Explanations on how the herb benefits the human organism by dispelling internal toxins were given with accompanied consumption of the first ever Tibetan scoparia wild saffron tea sachet ever.

The person became my friend and we imported the first consignment a few months later. Many of my colleagues were rather lucky as a result of. Some came to me and asked if this tea also could cure their liver ailments ( Hepatitis ). And seeing the effectiveness for the first time I was glad to notice the visible improvement in two persons after they consumed their prescribed dose.

As a producer and scientist Mr. Chen was instrumental in developing the modern day freeze dry technique used to enhance the marketability of his product.

This happened all in 2005. Since then we have imported many shipments from Chen and he became a close friend.

One of the most remarkable issues worthy mentioning is that Chen himself is consuming his product on a regular base. In Winter when we freeze he walks around with a light summer jacket, never gets sick, never suffers from flu, from cold. I was astonished to see him on the height of Winter in his home with freezing below minus 20 degrees C – coming to pick me from the airport  – with a T shirt. Now if this is not a prove of his health – what is.
